We refurbish gas turbine packages and reciprocating engine-based power stations across the full scope: prime movers, ancillary and auxiliary systems, fuel and combustion systems, control and protection architecture, and balance of plant. Whether the asset is a trailer-mounted mobile gas turbine, a containerised generator set, or a multi-engine power station operating in a remote mining environment, our approach is the same. What we Deliver
Gas Turbine Package Refurbishment
USP&E refurbishes trailer-mounted and industrial gas turbine packages across GE TM2500, GE LM2500, GE LM6000, Pratt and Whitney FT8, and Siemens E-Class and F-Class series turbines. Full scope covers the gas generator and power turbine, lube oil and hydraulic systems, fuel skids across liquid and gas configurations, water injection systems for NOx control, inlet air filter sections, bleed air and combustion systems, and structural and cabling restoration on trailer-mounted units. All work is executed to OEM specification with complete component traceability.
Reciprocating Engine Overhaul and Rehabilitation
For reciprocating engine-based power stations, USP&E carries out top, bottom, and major overhauls, scheduled services, turbocharger upgrades, fuel and lube oil system remediation, and cooling water system restoration. Our teams have worked across Caterpillar CM32, CAT 3516B, MaK 6CM32 and 12CM32, Cummins, MAN, and Wartsila engine platforms. Where a plant has been left in distressed condition by a previous operator, we conduct forensic root cause analysis before any spanner turns, identifying latent defects and presenting findings to the client before the rebuild begins.
Control and Protection System Upgrades
We replace or upgrade control systems, generator protection relays, vibration monitoring systems, and HMI interfaces as part of the refurbishment programme. Where clients require SCADA integration, we embed SMARTPower connectivity from day one, linking the refurbished asset to live performance monitoring and predictive maintenance.
OEM Warranty and Performance Guarantee
Every refurbished asset carries a USP&E warranty backed by OEM performance standards, with full service logs, inspection records, test results, and OEM certificates. This documentation directly supports client financing requirements and reduces insurance premiums on the asset.
Why USP&E
The track record covers both technology families
In Togo, USP&E rehabilitated a Pratt and Whitney FT8 HalfPac for a national power utility. Full scope covered ancillary system rehabilitation, fuel skid servicing, water injection maintenance for NOx control, and control system upgrades spanning the Woodward Micronet+, generator protection relays, Bentley Nevada vibration monitoring, and site HMI. The turbine was returned to service with improved reliability, extended operational life, and a material reduction in unplanned outage risk.
In Mali, USP&E was called in to recover a 100-plus MW mining power plant comprising 15 CAT CM32 engines left in critical condition by the previous contractor. We conducted forensic root cause analysis across the entire fleet, implemented a full turnaround programme covering engine rebuilds, turbocharger upgrades, cooling water and fuel quality remediation, and spare parts management, and installed three new zero-hour CM32 engines to expand capacity. By 2024, the plant had reached 95% availability and maintenance costs had been reduced by 66% per engine compared to the previous operator.
At the Perkoa Zinc Mine in Burkina Faso, USP&E mobilised within days to stabilise an ageing Caterpillar 3516B and MaK 6CM32 power station that was threatening mining continuity. We completed major overhauls, scheduled services, and life extension work and backed every element with a one-year warranty. The client confirmed USP&E “preserved and extended the asset life of our ageing power station and guaranteed their work.”
