Mining Sector
Powering Possibility. Built for the Frontier.
Mining operations demand reliable power in locations where reliability is hardest to achieve. Remote sites, extreme conditions, limited infrastructure, complex logistics – these are the realities of frontier mining.
USP&E has been delivering power stations to mines across Africa and beyond since 2002. We understand that when power fails, production stops. That’s why mining clients trust us to design, build, and operate the generation infrastructure that keeps their operations running.
What Mining Clients Need
Uninterrupted Power
Process plants, ventilation systems, and underground operations cannot tolerate outages. Mining requires guaranteed availability backed by data, not promises.
Speed to Power
Whether it’s a new development or an emergency recovery, mines need generation capacity on tight timelines. Delays cost money – sometimes millions per day.
Remote Capability
Frontier sites come with logistics challenges, skills shortages, and limited local infrastructure. Your power partner needs to operate where others won’t go.
Lifecycle Accountability
Mines don’t want a different contractor for every phase. They want one partner who can deliver from feasibility through to long-term O&M.
What We Deliver
Engineering and Feasibility
Site-specific power station design, fuel optimisation studies, and bankable feasibility reports. We engineer for real-world mining conditions – dust, heat, altitude, and variable load profiles.
Project Execution (EPC & EPCM)
Turnkey delivery from procurement through commissioning. We have delivered mining power stations on time and on budget in Mali, Sierra Leone, Mauritania, Madagascar, and beyond.
Operations and Maintenance
Long-term O&M contracts with performance guarantees. Our teams embed on-site, train local workforces, and use SmartPower monitoring to maintain availability and control costs.
Asset Recovery and Rehabilitation
When existing power plants underperform, we recover them. Our turnaround at a 100+ MW mining complex in Mali achieved 95% availability and reduced maintenance costs by 66% per engine.
Why USP&E
We have been powering mines in frontier markets since 2002. Our teams have operated through political instability, logistics crises, and the harshest environmental conditions.
Mining is our strongest sector – and the proof is in the performance data, the reference letters, and the repeat business from clients who trust us to keep their operations running.
Entrepreneurial speed. Engineering credibility.
