At the 2026 Africa Energy Forum in Cape Town, USP&E and BAM Energy launched BridgePower Nuclear, a joint venture built to give mines, industrial operators and data centres a single route from firm thermal power today to small modular nuclear baseload later, on the same site and under one power purchase agreement. The thermal phase is designed to deploy within 12 to 24 months, with BAM Energy’s Pearl SMR modules phased in from 2029. The launch was covered by Business Day and Bizcommunity.
