Case Studies: Operations and Maintenance
Renewable Energy Conversion Facility
Long-Term Renewable Energy O&M and Asset Stabilisation
| TYPE: | Operations & Maintenance |
| LOCATION: | Tennessee, USA |
| CLIENT: | Global Energy / American Green Fuels |
| SCOPE: | Operational readiness consultancy, long-term O&M |
THE CHALLENGE
The Rockwood facility is a biomass energy conversion facility designed originally by Proton Power but more recently developed and controlled by American Green Fuels. With a design capacity of over 230 million litres per year of renewable diesel, the plant converts wood chips to ASTM D975 liquid diesel fuel. Global Energy hired USP&E as an operational readiness consultant. The client’s engineers were struggling with reliability due to excessive tarring.
The Solution
The engagement began as an operational readiness consultancy, which then led to a long-term Operations and Maintenance contract. USP&E mobilised a team of experts from around the world to address reliability and optimise the power station. Our personnel worked 24/7 for over a year to troubleshoot, assist with redesigns, commission the SCADA systems, and ensure optimal performance.
The Outcome
The facility achieved reliable power generation with reduced operational risk. USP&E’s O&M delivery supported long-term asset performance and enhanced energy output.
