Case Studies: Operations and Maintenance
Renewable Diesel Facility
Renewable Diesel Facility O&M and Reliability Recovery at Bay Minette
THE CHALLENGE
The Bay Minette facility is a strategically located biomass conversion facility designed originally by Proton Power but more recently developed and controlled by Alleo Energy. It converts wood chips to ASTM D975 liquid diesel fuel with a design capacity of over 230 million litres per year. Alleo Energy hired USP&E as owner’s engineer and operational readiness consultant. The client’s engineers were struggling with reliability due to excessive tarring.
The Solution
USP&E mobilised a team of experts from around the world to address reliability and optimise the power station. The engagement began as an owner’s engineer and operational readiness consultancy, which then led to a long-term Operations and Maintenance contract. Our personnel worked 24/7 for over a year to troubleshoot, assist with redesigns, commission the SCADA systems, and ensure optimal performance.
The Outcome
USP&E delivered on commitments with real-time support in the midst of adverse circumstances, contributing to the progress made on the facility.
Client Reference
“USP&E has delivered upon its commitments with real-time support in the midst of adverse circumstances. We recognise this as an invaluable contribution to the progress we have made together. We are intent on seamlessly continuing to work with USP&E in this capacity.” – Tim Adkins, Alleo Energy
