Case Studies: Engineering and Project Execution
Modular Power Station for Oil and Gas in Guatemala
13 MW Modular Power Station for Active Oil and Gas Operations
THE CHALLENGE
Perenco Guatemala has been operating in the country since 2001, producing oil from the Xan Field in the Petén region. The client required reliable on-site power generation to support oil and gas operations. Guatemala’s oil industry presents regulatory complexities, infrastructure limitations, political instability, security risks, environmental standards, talent shortages, supply chain challenges, and financial volatility. Success demanded meticulous planning, risk management, and adaptability.
The Solution
USP&E partnered with Perenco Oil to design, build, and commission a 13.1 MW HFO/Diesel modular and packaged power station featuring HHI 9L21/32 units. Our scope covered full EPC and commissioning, including design, procurement, engineering, construction, and commissioning. USP&E acted as the technical authority responsible for safe and compliant delivery within an active oil and gas environment.
The Outcome
The full project was completed by USP&E in under 5 months, on time and on budget. The facility secured reliable on-site power capacity, enabling energy optimisation and supporting operational continuity and production requirements.
